Hands down the best mail I've ever recieved. My high school chose the Education Center as the charity of the year and worked hard raising money throughout the year. With their huge donation we are extremely close to having all the money needed to complete construction!!! Thank you SO much to the students and everyone in the LT community for helping build the Center and bring some much needed resources and opportunity to thousands of amazing Ghanaians. Thank you from the bottom of my hear for believing in me and these crazy dreams I'm pursing in Ghana, your support means the world. I have 5 other incredible announcements coming soon, just waiting on official paperwork, then I can publish the blog post. I just want to spill the news already! kuntzr 45 1Just recieved the best news EVER. As of today we OFFICIALLY have the Education Center land (that we've been building on for 5 months) in our names!!!! This means nobody can take it away from us and nobody can claim ownership over it except us. We've been waiting on this piece of paper, and now everything is official! This is my favorite because baby wearing is for all ages and seeing Love's daughter snuggle and cuddle her sister makes my heart melt. kuntzr 32 2New blog post at together-we-are.com today (link on profile) about my thoughts on this Mother's Day. "I’m a “so-close-I-can-taste it”, “not-quite-yet”, “by-this-time-next-year” mother. My heart aches for my born and unborn children in Ghana and elsewhere. I hope they know how much their momma loves them and can’t wait to call them “hers” forever. I know deep in my heart that I won’t birth most of my kids; we won’t share DNA, we won’t share the same chins or long noses, we probably won’t even share the same skin or eye color, but this won’t make them any less “mine”. Biological or adopted, all will be my beautifully and wonderfully made children. My motherhood days are coming soon, I’m pretty darn sure of that. kuntzr 15 1Blown away and amazed how much has been raised since Jan 2013. We've got a long way to reach $50k but we are well on our way. Each and everyday I'm so so thankful for the donations, kind words, encouragement, emails, smiles, and hugs. The Education Center is being built brick by brick, with SO much hope and love by people all over the world. kuntzr 28 0This little one is weighing HARD on my heart right now. She just turned 5 months old (photo is when she was 4 days old and was abandoned at the bus station and I picked her up). She's currently at the orphanage and I pray about her 24/7 with all my heart. I'll see her when I get to Ghana in 6 weeks and will start to explore what the future holds for her, me, and us together. kuntzr 74 5Tina, Owura, Brigid, and Kofi just called me from Ghana. Their sweet voices and excited cheers for 15 straight minutes put even more inspiration and passion into my soul. Brigid said, "Rebecca, I saw the building near my school. I told my friends it will be a library and computer center. They don't believe that you and your friends are the ones building it. This summer I want you to tell them. They don't believe me because people have promised us a library and computer center before, but they abandon us before it is complete. You will not abandon us Auntie Rebecca, right? You told me you would never forget about us." I will never abandon Brigid or the thousands of other children in Atonsu. We will build the Education Center. We will build it together and walk hand in hand.
